Secrets To Small Business Start up Success.

Many people think that putting up a small business does not require much effort in comparison with a big company. May be if we do not take into consideration that our venture needs to give us a profit, we may be tempted to think on those lines. But then why start it in the first place because the energy, the capital would have been flushed down the drain. What a deliberate wastage. To start a business, whether big or small, requires a deliberate effort on the part of the entrepreneur. He or she will need to plan very well in order for the venture to be a successful one in all the necessary areas.

From my own experience, I learned that for one to succeed, they must apply certain workable principles. These principles naturally guide the entrepreneur to move into a certain direction toward a set goal or goals. I learned that there are seven principles which must be followed in order to succeed. These have been taught and repeated in thousands of books and articles over many years, and here I give the first one, others follow later:

  • Clarity: You must be absolutely clear on who you are and what you want. This is necessary because you will have written goals and plans for every part of your life. Begin with your values. What do you believe in and stand for? What is important to you in life?  What would you pay for, fight for, suffer for, and die for? What do you really care for? Someone once wrote, "Until you know exactly what you would do if you only had one day left to die, you are not prepared to live." What is your vision for yourself and your future?  What is your vision for your family and your finances? What is your vision for your career and your company?  Even if you are starting your business on a kitchen table, you must have a vision of becoming a world leader in your field, or you will probably never be successful.
What is the vision for your business? What is it that you want to accomplish for your customers? What is it that you want to do to improve the lives and work of the people you intend to serve with your products and services? In other words what do you really want to do with your life?  Finally, what are your goals, what do you want to accomplish in your financial life? What are your family and health goals? What difference do you want to make in the lives of others? The best question is If you knew that you could not fail, what would you dare do? The greater clarity you would have on each of these issues, values, vision, mission, purpose, and goals....the greater the probability that you will accomplish something wonderful wit your life.
